First, the lights kept going out. It seemed like the minute one was fixed another one would be out. It was something electrical.
Then, the key remote stopped working. We figured it was the battery and took it to the dealership. Nope. It was something with the computer chip and they wanted to charge us $250 for a new one! So we decided to do without.
Now we have to lock the door manually from the outside. The only problem with that is that 1 out of 5 times, the security system won't turn off. Oh, it lets me open the door without a problem. But try putting the key in the ignition and starting the car. It beeps like crazy and there is no way to turn it off without the remote! So many times, I have had to sit in my running car waiting for it to quit beeping in the parking lot at school. So embarrassing!
And then there are the times like today when the car won't even start. We bought multiple batteries before finding out that it too was an electrical problem. This has been going on for almost a year now and it's completely random. Most of the time, it will start but once you let go of the key, it dies. If you pump on the gas for a minute or so, everything is fine. Not so today. We had everything ready for our mini ski trip and the car would not start. Matt pumped on the gas and the car squealed. It finally started but was really jerky and we decided it probably wasn't the best idea to go skiing.
Matt took the car to the shop and the mechanic could not find anything wrong! How is that possible? So they did a few cleaning things and sent him on. Hopefully everything will be OK now. We can't exactly afford a new car right at this moment. In happier news, we are planning to go skiing tomorrow afternoon after Aiden gets out of preschool. Luckily, I have a really flexible schedule right now so I cant take another half day tomorrow.
