Aiden's First Trip to Chuck E Cheese

I have to admit, I was dreading the day that I had to let Aiden in on the secret of Chuck E Cheese. I always had fun there when I was little, but the last time I was there with my little sister, I understood why grow ups aren't use big fans of the place... And then on the last day of school Aiden received a birthday party invitation. When I saw where the party was going to be, I knew that the day had finally arrived! And we had a blast....

Aiden was so excited from the moment we walked in the door! Here he's doing one of his excited squeals... I LOVE to see him happy like this!

He never really got the concept of this game, but he had a lot of fun trying. He and all of his friends were throwing these balls up the lane and they would bounce off and go all over the place! It's not much fun being hit by one though...

More excitement!

Time to Eat...

Meeting Chuck E Cheese... I wasn't sure how Aiden would react to Chuck E Cheese. He didn't want to go up to him and give him five but he didn't hide behind me either! Some of the children were terrified.

Once all of his tokens were gone, he picked out his prizes and was ready to go. No whining about getting more tokens or anything. I was really impressed. And now I no longer have to dread going to Chuck E Cheese. Fun times!

An Update and Presents for Teachers

I'm back~ for now at least! I have just been feeling so exhausted lately. On the rare occasions that Aiden is taking a nap, I take a nap too. And when he's down for the night, so am I! That doesn't leave much time for blogging.

And I've been a little bummed lately as well. I just found out that I'm not going to be able to get my master's degree this August like I was supposed to. I am going to have to finish writing my thesis after we move and then I will have to come back and defend it when the baby is less than two months old. It's not the end of the world since my parents live here, but it's not something that I'm looking forward to. At least I will have my masters this December, I guess.... Anyways!

Today is Aiden's final day of 2 year old preschool! I can't believe he's already finished his first year! I think it was a really good experience for him and am glad that we chose to send them this year. We made cards for his teachers last night. I made him an arts and crafts box for his birthday and filled it with lots of art supplies. I let him decorate his cards any way he wanted. Of course he chose to use glitter! While I'm not a big fan of glitter, I do let him play with it quite often because he absolutely loves it. I bought him a pack of glitter that came with six different colored tubes and when I opened it for him last night, he laughed and squealed. It was the cutest thing! He was so excited!

I wrote a note to each of his teachers and pasted it inside his card...

I bought both of the techers Target gift cards and a pack of note cards. The note cards were the same price as a gift card holder. And more useful too!

Tada! Presents for his teachers!

After Graduation Pictures

This morning, Aiden had his preschool graduation. I think his age group was just a little bit young for the ceremony. They were all laying down on the stage on their stomachs and walking up and down the stairs. I made Aiden wear a tie and he insisted on chewing on it the entire time... But it was a cute program.

Here are a couple of pictures that I took of Aiden in our backyard. He really didn't like wearing that tie!

End of the Year Preschool Party

Tomorrow is Aiden's preschool graduation! We had an end of the year party with his class on Monday. I love how interactive this preschool is. It is geared more towards stay at home parents, but luckily I have a really flexible schedule this semester so I have been able to participate in all of the activities that parents have been invited to. I wish Aiden had started this preschool at the beginning of the fall semester. We have both really enjoyed it.

Aiden is still really shy, but he really likes to play with one of the little boys in his class. While he spent most of the party playing by my side, it was cute seeing him interact a little with his friends.

First, they did a little art activity. Aiden chose to paint a lady bug.

Then they had a snack.

Then they played. They chased each other, drew with sidewalk chalk, and blew bubbles. Fun times!

And they took turns climbing on the rock memorial.

Chasing Birds and a Family Picnic

The weather has been crazy for the last few days! This morning, it was 34 degrees when we woke up and then it got up to 75 this afternoon. So we got to spend the afternoon at the park. Aiden's favorite thing to do at the park right now is chase birds. (I'm not sure if you can see the robins in the first picture or not) He really thinks that he might be able to catch them. They let him get really close and then fly away. It is really funny to watch. He will come running back to me and say, "I almost got that one, Mommy!" This is the only time that he will let me out of his sight. He will run and chase the birds for 3o minutes at a time. It exhausts me!

After leaving the park, Matt asked me if I would like to take Aiden up to a little creek that he found while riding his bike and have a picnic. I made chicken salad croissants and took some watermelon, and iced sugar cookies. After we ate, Aiden had lots of fun throwing sticks into the water for Kenai.

On the way home from our picnic, Aiden asked, "Can we do this again tomorrow?"

A Photo Fashback: Happy 3rd Birthday Aiden!!!

Today is Aiden's third birthday! I can't believe he is already turning 3! We lost almost all of Aiden's baby pictures~ except for the ones I saved on photobucket~ when my laptop crashed. It still makes me sad to think about, but at least I have a few! So, here is my little buddy on all of the birthdays he's celebrated so far:

"That's a baby! That's not me anymore. That's Holden."

Digging in to his very own cake~ he didn't like getting messy!

"I'm big. I'm not a girl though. I'm just wearing a pink shirt."

He was exhausted at his party and this is one of the few decent pictures that I was able to get.

An Early Birthday Surprise

Tomorrow is Aiden's third birthday. I can't believe it! We were getting ready to go to the park when the doorbell rang this morning. When we opened the door, a man was standing there with a huge balloon bouquet. Aiden was so excited! My dad sent him a teddy bear holding jelly beans and five helium balloons. He also got two boxes of candy- Skittles and gummy zoo animals- tied with a blue ribbon. Aiden loves candy but is not a big fan of chocolate so he was really happy about the candy selection! I had no idea he was getting this gift either so it was a really neat surprise!

Aiden wasn't very happy with me when I was taking these pictures because I told him he would have to eat lunch before having candy.

Today's forecast called for an 80% chance of rain, but it was 85 degrees and absolutely beautiful! I took Aiden and my little sister to the park. They both had a lot of fun!
